Hello or A Shout Out To All DIY EVers.
Well the work shop at Lou's got a late start, Jon & James in attendance.
Working on the BRAT E/V, sparks were flying as Lou cut the shaft free.
Well my earthling's our club is moving forward in a positive mode! Just
like a huge Run Capacitor!
Here is some interesting info---Modern Energy
The global energy marketplace is going through a period of dynamic transformation
and with that comes opportunity. As with previous energy revolutions
from wood to
coal and coal to petroleum it is technological innovation that is
driving the
change and defining the blueprints for our energy future. Whod have
thought that
electric vehicle technology would finally hit the mainstream? From a technological
point of view, we live in exciting times.
Well bye 4 now I must return to area 51 before I implode!!! Just Recycle
me Please!

Hello All Earthlings. Well, our Saturday A.M. work shop was a out in
orbit master
piece!! A true mechanical Romance.
The usual Fantastic 4 in attendance in orbit: Lloyd, Bill, Jon and Elwood
the hanging in there guy.
Working on The ELECTRIC THREE WHEEL TRIKE { THE WINDJAMMER } Fabricated
by Gary {Bubbles}Reid.
Gary got it wired with a little help from his friends. It's up and running!
The giant muffins helped.
The Las Vegas EV Club is honored to have been a part of Gary's far out
fabrication the three wheel Wind Jammer. As I'm writing this report what
comes to mind is this, my Earthlings' all of the
effort put forth by everyone on wiring this Beautiful, Artistic Machine
is all worth
the effort just too see the Big Smile on GARY'S face as he cruised up
and down his street!
TEAM EFFORT!! It's a blessfull thing when people come together to work
as a team, get along,
learn together become one with a goal to do something constructive.
Maybe congress should build an EV and learn how to be a team from us.
So all of you DIY people in Las Vegas you are welcome to participate in
any of our future EV work shops.
Well bye for now I must return to Area 51 before dark God Bless, This
is ELWOOD'S REAR VIEW

New Battery Technologies:
When can we buy them and how much will they cost?
compiled by Jon Hallquist
German Researchers Developed a Fluoride-Based Battery ten fold greater
than current lithium-ion 2011
Source: Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
researchers created a fluoride battery that may replace lithium-ion technology,
lithium-free fluoride battery concept claiming that they would
allow for energy densities up to
ten fold greater than current lithium-ion chemistries.
The concept was presented in the Journal of Materials Chemistry by Dr.
Maximilian Fichtner and Dr. Munnangi Anji Reddy.
When can we buy them and how much will they cost?
We heard some thing like this before in 2007:
Silicon nanowires battery can hold 10 times the charge
of existing lithium-ion battery 2007
Stanford researchers use silicon nanowires to reinvent the rechargeable
lithium-ion batteries. The new technology, developed through research
led by Yi Cui, assistant professor of materials science and engineering,
hold 10 times the amount of electricity of existing lithium-ion, known
as Li-ion, batteries.
When can we buy them and how much will they cost?
Very Promising! Zinc-Air Battery Could Hold 300% More
Energy Than Lithium-Ion 2009
ReVolt Technology, a company based in Staefa, Switzerland,
proves that its Zinc-air battery can "store three times the energy
of lithium ion batteries, by volume, while costing only half as much,"
and unlike other existing air batteries, they're rechargeable.
The Swiss company ReVolt said they would
release the new batteries in 2010 as small batteries for use in hearing
aids and they did.

If all goes as planned next will come
cell phone and laptop batteries. Eventually much larger batteries are
planned for electric vehicles. When
can we buy them and how much will they cost?
Fluence Z.E, thinking it might be contagious. by
Jon Hallquist
I am a member of the Linked In Official Better Place Group.
It seems they are not very active. So I posted: "My landlord just
got back from Isreal and said Shai Agasi is not getting very good revues.
Guess the oil industry has power over the media in Isreal as well."
and got this reply from David Rose: "What your landlord saw was not
a review concerning the benefits or
disadvantages of the Better Place model, but what seems to be an Israeli
trait (being one myself I can say this with impunity) of us finding it
difficult to give proper credit where it is due. The Better Place model
is a new, massive undertaking and there will be bumps in the road, just as
there are in any new undertaking, but just like mobile phones, people
will sooner than they believe begin to ask how come the Better Place EV
model did not come along sooner! I just ordered my Fluence ZE this week
and can't wait until the beginning of Q1/2012 to receive it and have everyone
on the street staring at this new fangled contraption :-). Shai will just
have to work harder at proving his concept is correct and I plan to help
him do it in my own small way."
I wasn't very familiar with the Fluence Z.E, thinking it might be contagious
I looked it up and found this video: Better Place Denmark

WHAT WILL the car thieves think OF NEXT? by Carl Clark
You know your vehicle's VIN number is usually visable on the drivers side
in the lower corner of your windshield. Car thieves can easily write down
the VIN # from the label on the dash, go to the local car dealership and
request a duplicate key based on the VIN #.
I didn't believe it, so I called my dealer and pretended I had lost my
keys. They told me to just bring in the VIN #, and they would cut me one
on the spot, and I could order the keyless device if I wanted.
The Car Dealer's Parts Department will make a duplicate key from the
VIN # without checking ID, and the thief doesn't have to break into your
car or do any damage to the vehicle, or draw attention to himself.
All he has to do is walk up to your car, insert the key and off he goes
to a local chop shop with your vehicle. It really is that EASY. To avoid
this from happening to you, simply put some dark tape (electrical tape,
duct tape or medical tape) across the VIN Number Metal Label located on
the dashboard.
By law, you cannot remove the VIN, but you CAN cover it so it can't be
viewed through the windshield by a car thief.
